Houseplants Galore!

Hello everyone! I hope your summers are all lovely so far.
I know I've been terrible at posting but the summer job hunt has kept me pretty busy so far and, sadly, has yielded no results up to this point. So the most I can do with my plants right now is what I've got going on in the three seasons room and sunroom of my house.

Here's the three seasons room. We only renovated it last summer so it's still a little bare, but those ceiling panels make the room nice and warm and the plants love it.

This is the back of the three seasons room and the wall of windows lets lots of natural light in.

 My little shelf of plants.

The philodendron are really doing well.

I've got my kumquat trees, my hibiscus cuttings and some Easter Lily scales growing in one flat.

A succulent cutting I took from my grandma's garden.

And my spider plants are doing great too.

My Christmas cacti cuttings finally are getting new philocads on them.

The table I've been using to pot everything up.

Then, inside, I have my African violets that are still growing very well.

The houseplants in the sunroom window.

And the African Violets are doing really well.

I also love looking after my parents houseplants. This big fern, which has since been moved out to the three seasons room, is one of my favorites.

So sorry to keep putting off my vegetable garden post, but I'll try to get around to it soon!

Home Again

So my first few days back at home have been pretty full of unpacking and saying hello to all my friends I haven't seen in a while. It's also been rather strange because I have to go through the end of spring all over again. Back in Minnesota, spring is pretty much over. All the leaves on the trees have filled out and the spring flowers are done blooming. All the flowering trees and lilacs are finished for the most part and it feels much more like summer. But now that I'm back up North, some of the trees are still gaining their leaves and beginning to flower. I've never experienced the same season twice in one year quite like this.

I have, however, been able to get a teeny bit of a start on some gardening projects, despite all the unpacking that needed to be done.
My dad has already turned over the dirt in the vegetable garden, so all I need to do is level out the soil, go buy some seeds/young plants and start planting. I'll probably plant-
-Beans
-Peas
-Lettuce
-Peppers
-Tomatoes
-Carrots

All my plants that I've brought home from my horticulture class have been doing very well in our 3 seasons room that connects our house and garage. The ceiling in there is a sort-of opaque plastic so the sun gets it nice and warm during the day and the room traps the heat rather well at night when it cools off. I've repotted some of my spider plants that were getting too big for their pots and potted up a few more plants I'd been rooting.

The last project I got a good start on was the herb garden on the side of the house near the kitchen. I dug up, turned over and pulled weeds out of what used to be an old strawberry bed and outlined a smaller area for the herbs with bricks.

Not entirely sure what herbs to plant yet but I know basil, parsley and thyme are definitely going in here.
And the last news of the week is that I came out of my first Horticulture course with an A-! :)
Thanks for reading! Hopefully for the next post I'll have more pictures up!
